From what we can gather on the link you provided, Odata 4j is not a version of Odata - it’s a Java framework for implementing the Odata protocol. If your goal is to use OData 4j in one of your own data systems, and connect to it using Skuid's Odata connection apparatus, that should be possible in theory. You may already be familiar with Skuid's data source types, but in short, Skuid offers its own Odata connector for Odata (read more here).

Depending on where your data is coming from, you may even be able to use one of Skuid's pre-configured data source types (which include Sharepoint®, Salesforce®, Google Drive and Google Calendar, Microsoft Outlook® and Microsoft OneDrive®, and others). It may be fruitful to spend some time experimenting with these data sources to get a feel for the Skuid side of things.
